Looking at the calendar, it is now fourth quarter. Time flies, and taxes will be due as we move toward the new year. It’s not too early to begin your preparation. Will you have changes to your tax status for 2018? How will the new regulations effect you?
There are many changes in tax law since 2017 and you need to know which ones will apply to you. That’s why it is a good idea to begin pulling your receipts, expenses and spending documents together. Don’t wait until the last minute and be rushed to file or have to get an extension and pay an additional fee. Before we head into the holiday season, you can get a jump on your taxes.
If you do not yet have a tax preparer to CPA, now is the perfect time to find one so you can begin planning. If you are looking for a new professional, this is the time. You might want to also reconcile your records. Collect and arrange all banking statements. Be sure your accounting software has all the entries you have made to date.
You may find that there are actions you can take during this fourth quarter to lower the taxes you will pay next year.
